When you come from the countryside, you may yearn to leave for the big city, but, at some point, you always that it is indeed Mayenne that’s home!

This is how the Morand family decided one fine day to leave Paris to rediscover the green horizons of the Mayenne countryside, and to look for a beautiful house to turn into a welcoming guest house.

They found what they were looking for in the small village of Olivet on the border with Britanny.

“Our bed and breakfast project was born on a trip to Quebec, with a local landlord there. We realised that our memories of that stay were as much linked to the people we met as to the country. We were keen to give a genuine soul to the Chaussée d'Olivet - to offer more than just accommodation. "

Authenticity and simplicity …

Opening our guest rooms, and later our caravan, was a real family project” While taking part, Éric continued his career in supermarket distribution for a few years before joining the project full time, welcoming and caring for visitors. “Today, guest house customers are not necessarily looking for major tourist destinations or the most popular attractions. They expect a simplicity of welcome and authenticity. Exactly what Mayenne has to offer!

ON THE ROAD TO BRITANNY

A former mansion with a terrace opening onto the garden and its woodland, near the sunken lanes of the Chouan countryside, the Chaussée d’Olivet has everything you could want to make a beautiful stopover for discovering the road to Brittany. Eric is exceptionally proud of his home region and above all loves receiving guests and sharing its pleasures

We often chat to our guests over breakfast and give them some really good ideas they might not have thought of…

I like to discover the world of my visitors, to hear them talk about their trip, as well as their home region or country.

My taste for decoration and repurposed objects will give you a real sense of travelling during your stay in one of our themed rooms. You should also stroll in the garden and visit our gypsy caravan!

I look forward to:

  • taking the time to talk about my region, a little-known place just waiting to be discovered.
  • working out a tailor-made program with you, according to your expectations.
  • offering a hearty breakfast, with French toast, maple syrup and homemade jams

A great place to stay with an atmosphere of antique shops and flea markets with a flavour of long voyages far overseas.

“Our corner of Mayenne is probably not the best known, but it’s ever so rich in history. Clairmont Abbey, which was home to the Counts of Laval, is a marvel to discover”
